Are you interested in bees?
Have you ever wondered what beekeepers do?
With protective equipment provided and experienced beekeepers supervising, why not see whether looking at bees excites, interests or alarms you?
If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” this short – four hour course – could be for you.

Aims
- Learn the basics about:-
– Bees
– Beekeeping - Observe and handle bees to check whether beekeeping may be a suitable hobby
- Consider whether the longer Introduction course might be of interest
Place
The course starts at Bishops Cannings Village Hall and later moves onto Kennet Apiary which is just outside the village.
Timetable
9.00am – Coffee & Introductions Bishops Cannings Hall
9.15am – Life of the Honey Bee
10.00am –Role of the Beekeeper
10 45am – Depart for the Apiary
11.00am – Apiary Hygiene
– Observing and Handling Bees
1.00pm – Course ends
Price
£10.00 which will be refunded if you join Kennet Beekeepers Association.
Protective Gear
This is provided at the Apiary.
Weather
The temperature needs to be at least 14 degrees centigrade and dry for us to be able to examine the bees.
In the event of inclement weather we will rearrange the Apiary part of the course for a mutually convenient evening in the following week.
