Chairmans Letter – October 2021

Dear Kennet Beekeeper,

May I start by thanking all those who came to our rather jolly annual AGM last Monday.  Thank you for giving our KBKA  committee a unanimous vote of support.  It is sad to see some members leave the committee Dick Church and William Allen who have both been pillars of support to our Association.  They have been replaced by Emma Morley as our new Education secretary, and Ceri Gosling as our new Treasurer – may I welcome them both and thank those leaving.  In my Chairman’s report at the AGM there is a full thank you to Dick and William.

Honey Shows.  We are now about to have our own KBKA Honey Show this Wednesday 6 October closely followed on Saturday 9 October by the Wiltshire Bee and Honey Day in Devizes with most interesting talks. Do try and put something in each show and remember that we are the biggest club in Wiltshire and it would be great if we could win a few more cups . West Wilts is the big Honey Show cup winning club.  Our own honey show will be Open Judging done by Chris Rawlings and it will be interesting to see what he has to say about our products.

KBKA WhatsApp.  I had to close down this group and restart it as we were hacked.

2022 Programme. I hope to start putting together the 2022 KBKA programme shortly.  Please send me any suggestions for speakers and events.  KBKA will have the whole 2022 programme printed on card for all members to have displayed somewhere in their homes and as a constant reminder of all that is going on. We have not had one for the last two years because of COVID.  Let me have your suggestions for the future.

The Apiary(s).  The bees are all being made ready for the winter, feeding just about complete.  I still seem to be running the Horton Road Apiary (no volunteers to take over) so next year I will be asking any that that are experienced in the A-Team (Apiary Team) to take on a few more jobs and hopefully run some of the inspection days.

May I remind you all that your subscriptions are due from the 1st October, may I thanks those who have already paid up and  rejoined KBKA, say a big welcome to any new members and goodbye to any that are leaving.
Please let me have any suggestions to improve our KBKA. For the first time ever my Newsletter is a day late!

All best wishes
Robert
